Aliens Exist, and We Should Avoid Them At All Costs, Says Stephen Hawking

The venerated cosmologist says in a new Discovery Channel series that he thinks aliens exist, but we should do everything we can to avoid meeting them. Any life intelligent enough to find us would probably be seeking resources, he says. And that would likely be bad news for humans.

“We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet,” he says.

Among billions of galaxies, each containing hundreds of millions of stars, Earth is probably not the only place where life evolved, he says. To my mathematical brain, the numbers alone make thinking about aliens perfectly rational,” he said. “The real challenge is to work out what aliens might actually be like.”

The documentary offers several possibilities, including herds of two-legged herbivores grazing on an alien cliff-face where they are picked off by flying lizard predators, reports The Times of London. Another clip shows fluorescent aquatic animals forming vast shoals in the oceans of Europa.

Hawking, 68, spent three years working on the documentary, which highlights his thinking about several topics, the Times reported.

He’s previously spoken in favor of human colonization of other planets, arguing it would ensure the human race would survive nuclear war or asteroid collisions that could make Earth uninhabitable. But he says aliens with the same motivations would probably not be trustworthy.

“If aliens ever visit us, I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn’t turn out very well for the Native Americans,” Hawking says.

I, for one, would welcome our new alien overlords.

  1. I know this is lamo, but to believe Aliens exist, but to deny God his mathematical probability, is only to project and disquise his own sense of faith and belief, over science.

I’m not denying Aliens may exist, but a belief in them without evidence, other than hersay, seems to parallel the questions of faith in religion.

In fact, he sees the devil in Aliens because of predatory thinking, but can’t leap into it’s opposite extreme, and see the benevellence, even in one example, of an Almighty Alien, overseeing the passage of the u iverse, and infinity, Cannot evolution leap that far, or because its evolution, can it not see bshond its physical phenomenon, and make the first real leap, which is beyond itself.

Is this not what evolution ultimately prepares ourselves for?

That being said, when I his field, I like lot of the stuff he comes up with.

  2. Mr.Steven Hawkings is right in stating that “If aliens ever visit us, I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn’t turn out very well for the Native Americans,”. But the problem is that the problem is already here, the Alien Intervention is already here trying to take advantage of us, who is unaware and unprepared to what the Alien reality means here. All races in the universe are driven by resources. They are here because they want something what we have got. Therefore we have to prepare for contact, which is not on our terms unfortunately. But we have to see it with objectivity and sobriety. This is evolution in the universe. Emerging races as humanity come to a point, when they are about to exploit their resources that “visitors” come to try to gain access to those resources they need to survive. The visitors who are here, are no military power. They do not seek to destroy us. But to use us. War is not allowed in this region of the galaxy, so therefore they are utilizing more subtle means: persuasion and manipulation. We have to state our rules of engagement with intelligent life in the universe. Start your preparation today. To be able to maintain free in the universe any race have to meet the following 3 conditions: 1. to be self-sustainable – 2. to be united – 3. to be very discreet -> we are nothing of the above, thus heading to subjugation to alien forces we do not understand

    1. Thank you Manuel for your reply, seen that our planet is a biological gem, compared with many barren planets out in the universe, it’s like the Incas sitting on a pot of gold, unaware of their wealth. Unaware of the visitors intentions, to gain access to valuable resources.

  3. A hostile perception of aliens is part of our programming and keeps us from making contact with benevolent species. We need to grow up and expand our consciousness!
